League & Tournament Rules

9-14U/ Game & Tournament Rules

  1. Any rules not listed here, refer to OHSAA baseball rules
  2. The drop third strike “WILL” be implemented
  3. A courtesy runner can be used for the pitcher or catcher at any time, player must be the last out recorded.
  4. Pitching:
    1. 9-12u: A player can only pitch 6 innings over the course of the tournament
    2. 13-14u: A player can only pitch 7 innings over the course of the tournament
    3. One pitch counts as one inning
  5. Pitching Violations:
    1. Pitching will be self-monitored. It is HIGHLY encouraged to report to the tournament tent for innings pitched on your opposing team. If you believe a pitcher is in violation, stop the game and contact the tournament director IMMEDIATELY. If a pitching rule is violated, that team immediately forfeits that game and will be marked as a 10-0 mercy.
  6. Time limits and Tie Breakers
    1. 1:45-Finish current inning
    2. Pool Play Tie-Breakers
      1. If a game is tied at the end of regulation AND time limit HAS been reached, the game will be marked as tie and tournament seeding will adjust accordingly.
      2. If a game is tied at the end of regulation AND time limit has NOT been reached, game will immediately go into Modified Texas Shootout described below. If a winner hasn’t been determined by time limit, game will be marked as a tie.
    3. Bracket Play Tie-Breakers
      1. If a game is tied at the end of regulation AND time limit HAS been reached, game will immediately go into Modified Texas Shootout described below. Game will be played in this fashion until winner is determined
      2. If a game is tied at the end of regulations AND time limit has NOT been reached, game will play ONE normal extra inning. If game is still not determined, teams will immediately go into Modified Texas Shootout described below. Game will be played in this fashion until winner is determined.
    4. Modified Texas Shootout
      1. Last three batters from previous inning will be placed on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd with nobody out.
  7. Tournament Seeding Criterion
    1. Win-Loss Record
    2. Head to Head
    3. Runs allowed
    4. Run Differential (Max 10 per game)
    5. Runs Scored (Max 10 per game)
    6. Coin Flip
  8. Home/Visiting Team
    1. Pool play: A coin-flip will determine home and away
    2. Bracket play: Higher seed will be home team
  9. Official Scorebook (tournament) – A scorecard will be filled out at the end of each game in a meeting at home plate involving Head coaches, Scorekeepers, and Umpires. This scorecard will be signed by both coaches and umpire.
  10. Mercy Rule:
    1. 12 runs at any time
    2. 10 runs after 4 innings
    3. 8 runs after 5 innings
  11. Inclement Weather
    1. A tournament coordinator will be on site at all times. The tournament coordinator is responsible for interpreting facility rules as well as making decisions regarding the weather. All decisions made by coordinators are final.
    2. In the complex, all games will be suspended at the same time and the tournament coordinators will work together to determine when games will resume
    3. Lightning: 30 minutes must pass without lightning or thunder.
    4. Refund Policy due to Inclement Weather
      1. 0 game- Full refund
      2. 1 game- 50% refund
